Maria Ferrin Maria Moreno Ferrin has performed and choreographed in numerous musicals, ballets, and revues.
Before moving to Portland, she worked with Ballet Classico and Ballet Concierto in Mexico City, and the San Antonio Ballet, San Antonio Symphony, and San Antonio Opera Association in Texas. In Mexico City, she was a dancer with Amelia Hernandez’ Ballet Folkloric at Bellas Artes and has performed with many Flamenco groups in the United States, Mexico, and Spain.
She began her studies in San Antonio, Texas with Ruth Matlock and Victor Moreno, and in Dallas, Texas with Marjorie Tallchief of the Edith James School. In Texas she studied Spanish dance with Rogelio Rodriguez and Alta Garcia. After receiving a scholarship to Bellas Artes la academia de danza she joined the Ballet Folklorico and danced with Ballet Classico and Ballet Concierto. She also studied modern, jazz and tap.
After moving to Portland, Maria began teaching and choreographing for Metro Dance Center, Ballet Oregon, Portland Community Ballet, Jackie Kunzman School, Washington State Ballet and Portland Dance Academy.
To introduce Spanish and Mexican dance, she formed her own company, Ballet Fiesta. The company’s emphasis was Flamenco, but they also performed other Spanish dance including regional Spanish folk dances (jotas), neo-classical dances and escuela bolero (eighteenth century dance). The Mexican dance performances included regional dances from Vera Cruz, Jalisco, and Tehuantepec, and Polka Nortenos.

Gail Black has toured internationally and performed with the Bob Hope USO shows, Debbie Reynolds Show and Neil Diamond. In addition to several local studios, she has taught at Portland State University, Mt. Hood Community College and Oregon State University. Ms. Black has choreographed Oklahoma!, Hello Dolly, Anything Goes and The Music Man for local productions as well as convention floor shows for the Benson, Marriott and Hilton hotels. She has also directed and choreographed for the Dazzle and Company, and co-directed the Portland Trailblazer Dance Team. Gail Black and the Dazzle company auditioned and were awarded the honor of performing at Disneyworld, May 2000. In April 2004, Gail’s tap number for NCD won gold at the Co. Dance Regional Competition in Seattle, which qualified NCD for the National Competition, Summer 2004. Ms. Black teaches jazz and tap.

Carrie Larson - Carrie's dance career started at age 11 after being awarded a grant to train at one of England's top vocational schools, The Arts Educational Schools, Tring Park, where she was asked to tour with the English National Ballet in La Sylpide, dancing alongside guest star, Rudolf Nureyev. Carrie trained in RAD ballet, contemporary dance, modern, tap, drama and singing. After graduating in 1989 she attended the sister school in London focusing her dance education on ballet, contemporary and modern, where she achieved advanced certifications in RAD ballet and ISTD modern. Trained by Eve Pettinger MBE, Gary Sherwood, Clover Roope and Richard Alston she graduated college in 1992 and went on to perform with numerous independent contemporary dance choreographers. Her most memorable performances were with Michael Popper and Sally Owen, Carolyn Deby and Sara Mathews at The Place Theatre, Sadler's Wells Theatre and The South Bank Centre. Carrie also danced in a Royal Gala performance at the Strand Theatre in London's West End for HRH Prince Edward. Ms. Larson's 5 years of working with children has influenced her teaching philosophy. She understands the benefits of developing motor skills, flexibility, coordination, rhythm and self esteem and creates an enthusiastic and positive environment with a well structured class for her students to grow in each one of these fields. Ms. Larson teaches ballet.

Kristine Renyer performed with the Tudis Dance Ensemble throughout her teen and young adult years. From 1993-1999, Ms. Renyer performed, taught, and served as the Assistant Director of the Portland Dance Academy. In tap, she has trained with Heather Cornell, Cornel Lyons and Abron Glover. Ms. Renyer also participated in the International Tap Festival and the Manhattan Dance Project, training with Bill Hastings, Bill Hotaling, Michael Vernon and Savion Glover. Ms. Renyer currently trains with Daniel and Gail Black at NCD as well as with guest artists at workshops and seminars in the area. In addition, she has assisted the Dance Team at Valley Catholic High School. Ms. Renyer teaches ballet, jazz and tap.

Cynthia Tosh began her career at Ballet Pacifico under Lila Zali. She received a Ford Foundation scholarship to attend school at the American Ballet Theater in New York. She was invited to study with the Joffrey Ballet and the San Francisco Ballet. She later served as a principal dancer with Chicago City Ballet and Chicago Lyric Opera for four years, before joining Boston Ballet as a soloist. At Boston Ballet, Cynthia partnered with Rudolph Nureyev in his production of Don Quixote. She has been teaching ballet in the Portland area for twenty-four years. Cynthia was artistic director of Portland Community Ballet in Beaverton for ten years.
